The quickest and most convenient way to reach our house near Vaour is from St. Malo. The roads are all dual carriageway or motorway until Montauban. Total one way cost of Peage (motorway toll) is roughly equivalent to £25. The journey down (approx. 500 miles) will take about 7 to 7.5 hours.

The area lends itself to exploring and necessitates a form of independent transport.

The routes from Ports such as Calais, St Malo and Caen/Cherbourg are fairly straight forward, with the option of driving motorways most of the way.

The route from Calais over the Paris périphérique southwards is long and driving time depends on port of arrival and time of day to get past Paris. An overnight stay en route is often unavoidable.

With modern air traffic becoming easier and cheaper, access from Toulouse Airport is about 1 hours drive. Toulouse is a friendly and small airport, the cost of hiring a car will depend on time of the year.
